AN ORPINGTON primary school undergoing its first ever government inspection has been told it is high-achieving.

Hillside Primary School, in Dyke Drive, had its first Ofsted inspection since the amalgamation of Ramsden infant and junior schools. Inspectors said they found the school "had a happy and caring environment that provides a good quality education for pupils".

The school was also found to have good teachers and particular strengths in special needs provision and extra-curricular activities.

Chairman of governors Mrs Carol Harris said: "The governors would like to thank all staff at Hillside who have worked very hard as a team."
