Three cheers to the organisers of the Eltham Lights Up event on November 22.
It was a joyous, family-friendly occasion and the faces of children and grown-ups alike were a lovely sight to see. The music, singing and dancing was of a high standard.
Celebrating such diverse festivities as bonfire night, Diwali, Hanukkah and Christmas, the community lantern parade through the High Street was stunning.
Much hard work and thought had gone into the lanterns by the children. The carnival characters and costumes were amazing.
Free cartons of juice and free face painting were provided for the children. What more could parents of young children ask for?
It will definitely become a regular feature in our Christmas celebrations. The event was positive, multicultural and free! Let's hope it goes from strength to strength in future years.
