A NEW campaign is asking people to get involved in local education issues.
The government initiative, Excellence in Cities, is looking for volunteers to take on the role of being a school governor in Lewisham and Greenwich.
School governors sit on local school governing bodies which have the power to overview and make collective decisions on schooling in the area.
They sit once or twice a term in the evenings and do not have to be made up of parents.
A new one-stop shop for people interested in becoming school governors has been set up.
If you are interested you can get in touch by calling 0870 2413883 or writing to School Governors' One Stop Shop, 64 Essex Road, Islington, N1 8LR.
You can also send an e-mail to info@schoolgovernors-oss.co.uk
