HOGARTH Primary School was able to wave goodbye to fears about its future this week and look forward to bright new horizons as its new name was announced.

William Hogarth School is the new name for the Duke Road School, following a vote by its governing body.

Chairman Andy Rooney said: "We are very excited by the potential of this new school. We're confident that with the support of the community and building on the best of what went before, we can create a school that the whole of Chiswick can be proud of."

Cathy Driscoll, acting headteacher, said: "We are pleased to have connections to William Hogarth. This is a really exciting time and everyone is working very hard to build a great school which caters for the whole community."

A working party of the governing body will use the results of a questionnaire sent to parents to decide on the new school logo and uniform.
