Abba Magic and Bee Gees Magic tried their best at Fairfield Concert Hall on Thursday night, yet their Mamma Mia "spectacular" was more of a holiday camp cabaret.

Three white suits, platform soled boots and sunglasses do not make the Bee Gees.

Abba fared better, the girls really doing a competent job with the amazing costumes and their adaptable voices.

A very mixed audience seemed to love every minute of the performances, dancing, clapping and "going la" when requested.

The boys were the weak spot. Same chaps different costumes, and shouldn't Benny have had a beard? I may sound mean, but I hope these acts don't take themselves too seriously.

As I heard one person mutter after the Grease excerpts: "That's the first time I've seen a beer gut on a High School kid!"
