POP sensations of yesteryear the Beverley Sisters are backing a campaign urging vulnerable people to have a flu jab.

The singers and children's television presenter Kirstie O'Brien recommend anyone suffering asthma, bronchitis, diabetes, HIV/Aids, heart and kidney disease and anyone over 65 visit their doctor for a free jab before December. The Beverley Sisters said: "The last thing we need is flu at this time of year, so we get our jab to reduce the risk."

Singers Teddie, Joy and Babs Beverley received jabs to stop them catching flu during their winter tour.

Flu jabs are also available to residents in nursing and care homes and those whose immune systems are weakened by illness or treatment.

Those at risk should visit their GP this month, ready for the flu season.
