Last Friday night Bobby Bryant, from New Addington ABC, boxed for the South East division against the Army and secured a well-earned victory.
Bryant's original opponent did not turn up so he had to box Jeffrey Joyce from London's Fisher ABC.
In the first round both boys tried to control the bout with the jab. Bryant soon held the advantage as Joyce turned from the jab to wild right and left hand swings.
Joyce fought back in the second and Bryant was caught with some hard left-right combinations but was able to recover and soon was boxing off the jab, making Joyce miss and countering well.
But Joyce was not going to be a push over and came looking for the big shot from the start of round three but once again Bryant covered up well.
He led with the jab on to two and three combinations trying to roll under the opponents left hooks and counter with his own.
In a fight where both boxers did themselves proud, the judges gave the fight to Bryant with a unanimous points decision.
