Adolescence is difficult enough without having to think about developing arthritis.
But that's what 14,500 young people in the UK have to cope with right now.
Not many people realise that arthritis is a crippling joint disease that affects children and teenagers as well as older people.
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) leads to inflamed joints, stiffness, pain and fatigue.
Those with severe JIA may need lifelong drug therapy and joint replacement surgery.
To help teenagers, the Arthritis Research Campaign has produced a new booklet, called 'Arthritis In Teenagers'.
It is available, free of charge, from: Eve Taylor, Arthritis Research Campaign, St Mary's Gate, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S41 7TD.
