The family of teenager Hollie Waller, who was killed by a speeding car whilst crossing St Peter's Road, stood in North End's shopping precinct on Saturday 24, to gather signatures for a petition destined for Downing Street.

The loved ones of the 15 year- old, who died on her father's birthday last February, spent the day drumming up support for their Hollie's Fight for Justice campaign which is pressing for the law to be changed so that death and injury are taken into account when the cases come before the courts.

Their campaign for a change in the law was sparked by news that the female driver who accidentally hit Hollie had received a £150 fine and a two year driving ban.

The Coulsdon High School pupil's friends and family are also pressing for a pelican crossing to be put on St Peter's Road and have gathered the support of many residents from St Peter's and surrounding roads.

A petition for the pedestrian crossing will be sent to Croydon Council and another petition asking for a change in the law will be sent to Cherie Blair at Number 10 Downing Street.

Hollie's mother Tracey Bull said: "Pupils have told me about her 100 watt smile. I've lit a candle at Hollie's grave every night since she died.

"It's hard because her birthday's on December 4 and Christmas is coming.

"It's amazing that so many people would care about what we are trying to do.

"People that have never even met her are offering their support.

"I cannot thank them enough."
