Assistant manager Kenny Jackett said: "I thought it was a fair result. There were two outstanding chances, Lloyd Owusu's in the first half and Danny Shittu's header after the break.
"Anyone who saw our performance at Swansea last week will recognise we have come a long way in a week. The return of Danny Shittu and Matthew Rose, plus the arrival of Kevin Gallen, have helped a great deal."
Jackett revealed that the players approached the game like any other, despite Brentford treating it like a cup final. He said: "We're getting used to teams raising their game against us so we approached this match like any other. The game obviously meant a lot to them, but every team seems to have the same attitude against us."
