MORE than 1,000 shrubs were planted by volunteers to add a dash of green to a primary school.
Thirty volunteers rolled up their sleeves to plant hawthorn and blackthorn at Northcourt Primary School, in Dickens Road, Gravesend. They were planted around the school grounds to bring wildlife to the area and provide them with natural security.
Groundwork organised the day. Its Environment Task Force of unemployed young people prepared the land for planting. The scheme received funds from European funds and Gravesham and Meopham Rotary Club.
