Debenhams in Croydon have revived one of the town's ancient Christmas traditions - donkey rides outside the store.
Donkey rides used to take place every year from 1928 to 1966 outside Kennards Department store, now the site of Debenhams.
For one special day on December 2, which has been called Sunday Funday by the store, this old Croydon tradition will be revived and donkeys will once again be outside the store.
Store manager Gary Whittaker said: "When we were deciding how to make this day really special and memorable for the whole family, it was suggested to me about bringing the rides back with donkeys.
I thought what a great way to keep children amused on this special Christmas shopping day."
The donkeys are not the only activity on Sunday Funday. Debenhams has invited back Radio Mayday to broadcast inside the store, promoting special offers and there will also be staff in fancy dress, balloons, a children's entertainer, face painting, gift-wrap service and a special guest appearance by Father Christmas.
