THE GREEN Party is to picket the Esso Garage in Lea Bridge Road in protest against the company's alleged opposition to the Kyoto climate agreement.
The demonstration is part of a national Stop Esso Day organised by a coalition including Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and the Campaign against Climate Change.
A general Esso boycott has also spread internationally and is headed by celebrity campaigner Bianca Jagger.
Members of the Waltham Forest and Redbridge branch of the Green Party will line up outside the garage on Saturday.
They believe that Esso has encouraged the American President, George Bush, to block the Kyoto agreement on climate change.
Demonstrators will hand out leaflets and encourage drivers to boycott the petrol station.
Esso, however, has denied that it has given significant funding to George Bush's presidential campaign.
It also highlights its efforts to make its business more environmentally friendly.
