A CONSULTATION fair next week will give Waltham Forest residents an opportunity to comment on EduAction's priorities for school improvement.

Officers will be at the Education Centre in Queens Road, Walthamstow, from 3pm to 8pm on Tuesday and noon to 3pm on Thursday to explain what is planned and hear your views.

Refreshments will be provided.

The consultation document has already been published and covers the years 2002 to 2007.

Copies are available from the Education Centre, libraries and main council buildings as well as at the fair.

Translations can be obtained by calling the help desk on 8520 5128.

Eight priorities have been proposed relating to:

Early years and primary education

Raising attainment at Key Stages 3 and 4

Narrowing the attainment gap and tackling underachievement

Supporting schools causing concern

Recruitment and retention of staff

Developing effective self-managing schools serving the needs of the community

Building an inclusive education service.

Graham Moss, director of school support services, said: "Our Education Development Plan provides a timely opportunity for EduAction to set out its plans for improving the quality of the education service being offered on behalf of Waltham Forest children and young people.

"We hope that all sections of the community will respond to the consultation."
