WEST Essex Community Health Council chairman Robert Powell has been appointed the new chairman of Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.
He takes over from Martin Lawn on Saturday (December 1).
Originally from Nottingham, Mr Powell is a retired Metropolitan Police officer and lives in Great Easton, near Dunmow.
He said: "I'm delighted to be taking on this new and challenging role in leading the continuing development of local hospital services.
"I hope that the experience and knowledge I have picked up with the CHC will provide a fresh perspective in the running of the trust, particularly at a time when there is a focus on developing a more patient-centered service."
