VOLUNTEERS have raised £6,000 for a buggy to take patients around Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The League of Friends at the Woolwich hospital will pick up patients who have difficulty walking.
Voluntary Services Co-ordinator at the hospital Diane Hudson said: "The buggy will form a kind of bus system which will be able to pick patients up from the main reception and take them to outpatients or wherever they want to stop en route. The service will be useful because the new hospital is huge and there are many patients who have difficulty getting around."
Mrs Hudson is appealing for seven more volunteers to help with the service. For more information, call 0208 8366548.
