EPPING town council has welcomed the government's move to encourage a better and closer relationship between district and town or parish councils, hailing the move as "positive".
The government has issued a consultation document, 'Quality Town and Parish Councils', recognising the importance of smaller authorities in building successful local democracy.
It also provides residents with the opportunity to have their say at the beginning of each town council meeting.
Town clerk Bob Whittome said: "The idea behind quality councils is to achieve a closer relationship between district and town or parish councils. This is a positive move and should result in better control and delivery of services."
The town council has until February to submit its views on the document. Members of the public can read the document at the town council offices in Epping Hall, St John's Road.
