A solution for the relocation of Barnet Cricket Club could be on the horizon after the club confirmed Barnet Council has been in contact over possible new sites.

The cricket club has an uncertain future after Barnet Football Club unveiled plans for a new £12million stadium to the south of its present Underhill site.

But club secretary Trevor Chambers revealed possible sites were being discussed.

He said: "We are looking at one site in the Barnet area and if that is not suitable we would have to look at another one, but it is very early days."

Mr Chambers added that he expects the council to ask the football club to contribute financially towards relocation because Barnet were "getting the land for free".

Barnet FC's PR consultant, Dennis Signy, said: "I am sure the council will say we will have to pay something towards it, it's more than likely."
