An air ambulance and paramedics were called to Colindale yesterday afternoon after an eight-year-old boy was hit by a van in the middle of the school run.
Paramedics were called to Sheaveshill Avenue shortly after 3.30pm after receiving a call from a passer-by.
Pinner fire station officer Roger Fox said: "A young lad ran out in front of a white van at about 3.35pm. He has got some bad leg injuries and a head injury. He was on his way home from school."
The boy is believed to be a pupil at Colindale Primary School.
A spokesman for London Ambulance said: "We sent an ambulance, a paramedic fast response car and also the air ambulance.
"The patient was conscious when the first ambulance arrived on the scene and he suffered a fracture to the lower leg and a possible fracture to his pelvis."
Following the accident, police were busy stopping motorists to enforce the speed limit.
