I was angry and very sad to read last week that the Stars and Stripes was not flown at Hendon Town Hall alongside our Union flag to celebrate America's Thanksgiving holiday (U.S. flag won't fly at town hall', Times Group, November 22).
Our chief executive's statement that we did not fly the flag because no national guidance was given by the Government, I find very feeble.
It would have been a great opportunity to show our sympathy for the American people after the terrible events of September 11 and also to remind us of the tremendous support they gave us in helping to beat the Nazi tyranny during the 1939-45 war.
