Banning details of nuclear transports through London is "nonsense", according to the chair of the London Assembly nuclear waste trains investigative committee.
Under the new anti-terrorist bill, publishing details about nuclear transports could lead to a seven year jail sentence.
Currently trains carrying spent nuclear fuel pass through London on a weekly basis.
Darren Johnson, the Greater London Assembly (GLA) member who leads GLA's investigation, said: "If the Government was really serious about the terrorist threat to nuclear waste trains they would suspend the movement of these trains, as they have done in the United States, rather than trying to ban people from talking about them."
