MEMBERS of the Leyton Orient Fans' Trust were pleased to get a chance to put their questions about the club to O's chairman Barry Hearn last Thursday.

Mr Hearn, who met with around 60 of the independent supporters group at the Birkbeck Tavern, Leytonstone, spoke about the state of the club and of the national game in general, before opening the floor to questions from the supporters.

For the next couple of hours questions were put regarding matters as diverse as matchday catering, racism, the redevelopment of Brisbane Road and the chairmans long-term aims for Leyton Orient.

"Barry Hearn told us that he could treat and work with us as a serious organisation," said trust chairman Doug Harper.

"And we were pleased that he agreed to come to this small meeting, because it is the first time I have known a chairman from the club in the last 20 years to attend such an event.

"Meeting with us like this showed that he takes the concerns of the fans seriously and that, like the trust, he does appear to have the best interests of the club at heart.

"He also said that he would tackle the issues that we raised and highlighted that he wanted to do all he could to get the club out of the third division."
