The sterling work of police cadets was praised at their annual parade in Kingston last week.
Deputy Mayor Steve Mama joined Chief Superintendent Jeff Brathwaite, Kingston Polices commanding officer, to inspect the cadets and see them collect their berets at the Territorial Army centre in Portsmouth Road.
Coun Mama said: The significance of positive youth involvement in vital areas of the community such as the police cadet force is profound.
Cadets send an important message to the community that good citizenship is both a constructive and fulfilling part for youngsters to play in neighbourhood life.
Of course, none of the achievements of the cadets would be possible without the support of their parents who have encouraged and supported them to becoming valued members of our society.
On behalf of Kingston Council and the residents of the Royal borough, I extend our appreciation to them.
Anthony Smith, 18, was named cadet of the year and received a trophy from Councillor Mama.
