ENFIELD clawed themselves from the foot of the table with a win in emotional circumstances on Saturday.

A minute's silence prior to this six-pointer, in memory of Enfield secretary Keith Hughes and a long standing Harrow supporter, was impeccably observed by both sets of supporters.o

It was the home side that started the contest the brighter, but they were unable to carve out any clear-cut chances.

Enfield weathered the storm and as they grew in confidence, began to create opportunities of their own.

The E's Lee Allen went closest to opening the scoring when his shot from an exquisite George Gregoriou through-ball flashed just passed the upright.

The disappointment was short lived though, as on 21 minutes George Georgiou headed the visitors into the lead from an acute angle.

With their tails up, Harrow's Grant Cooper was unlucky not to have increased their lead three minutes later when his volley hit the angle of the upright.

On 29 minutes Marvin Walker collected the ball and went on a mazy run, evading two crude attempts to bring him down before sweeping the ball past the Harrow keeper, Duncan Roberts, with ease.

The possession pendulum then swung Harrow's way again with Ricky Millard being forced to tip over his own bar.

Their period of pressure was brought to a crescendo when John Lawford reduced the deficit to 2-1 on 34 minutes.

The same player thought he had levelled the scores just prior to half-time but the ref had blown for an infringement.

After the break Enfield had the better of it and restored their two goal advantage in a somewhat comical fashion on 63 minutes.

In an attempt to kick the ball clear from the edge of his area, Roberts hit the back of Wayne Walters and the ball landed invitingly in the path of Gregoriou, who made no mistake to score his first goal for Enfield in the league.

Joining him on the score sheet a few moments later was Dwayne Minors who mopped up after some Georgiou pressure to make it 4-1.

Harrow finished the stronger and reduced Enfield's lead through Michael Barima with 15 minutes to go, but the E's were able to hold on to secure an important victory.
