Sutton youngster Katie Dean wrapped up a great end to her judo season by winning a bronze medal in the British National Judo Championship at Crystal Palace last weekend.
The 11-year-old who was representing the Southern Area in the over 44 kilo girls category, beat the Scottish competitor in the first round.
Despite losing her second round fight to the Western Area player in a very closely fought battle, Katie went on to beat other players from the North West and Midland Areas in the repercharge to win the bronze medal.
This latest success takes the youngster's current medal tally to sixteen this year.
Her haul includes seven gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals.
Coach Andrew Ede, who trains her at Cheam Leisure Centre, says he is extremely proud of her performance.
Westcroft Judo Club's Kerry Ford, who was also representing the Southern Area narrowly missed out on a medal in the under 40 kilo girls category despite putting in a good performance.
