WANSTEAD and Woodford residents are being asked their views on how they would like Roding Valley Country Park developed.

Next year, Redbridge Council and the Environment Agency will produce a strategy for the park's development.

But they are particularly keen to hear from residents and local community organisations living near the sections of the park between the A12 roundabout, Snakes Lane and Chigwell Road.

The views of residents, walkers, community groups, horse riders, anglers, sports, organisations and cyclists are all sought.

A Redbridge Council spokesman said: 'The vision for the Roding Valley Country Park is to make sure that the park remains an important green corridor for Redbridge with a balance between nature conservation and recreation."

Interested community organisations are urged to fill in a short questionnaire form by Friday, December 21, so that the council can keep track of all those groups interested in the development of the River Roding and the Roding Valley Country Park.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: "Redbridge Council is working with Community Environment Associates to ensure local peoples' opinions are included. We know many residents and groups have their own ideas.

"Professionals have also proposed ecological options to help us."

Consultation will take place over the next few months, and a report of the findings will be published in March.

Anyone wanting more information should telephone Redbridge Council's conservation department on 8501 1426 or Doug Gleave of the CEA on 7359 9674.
