PERVERTS could be using holes in cubicles at Leyton Leisure Lagoon to spy on youngsters, according to worried users of the facility.

The swimming pool run by Greenwich Leisure in Leyton High Road has received a number of complaints about the holes, which are about a metre high, between the booths.

Margaret Wilks, of Beaumont Road, Leyton, who is a regular user of the Lagoon, said: "The holes are big enough that if someone bends down they can see right into the next cubicle.

"I have contacted the management and asked for immediate action.

"This has not happened and to my knowledge, no temporary action has been taken.

"The young children who go to the pool should be protected from anyone who may be spying on them because Leyton Leisure Lagoon can't get its act together."

She said a large number of cubicles were affected and has called for the management to fill in the holes immediately.

The council said that rubber stoppers that prevent the doors banging against the cubicle walls keep getting removed by children and this leaves the hole.

A council spokesman said: "The bungs are removed by children as soon as they are replaced by staff.

"Plates have been ordered to permanently re-seal the holes.

"The council is taking the concerns very seriously and is moving to rectify the situation as soon as possible."
