Heathrow: Opponents of Terminal 5 are now examining the possibility of legal challenges against the government's approval of the £2.25 billion project.
HACAN Clearskies looks set to challenge last Tuesday's decision using a £100,000 'war chest' it has in reserve.
"We are actively considering pursuing a judicial review and are looking through the government statement to for any points we can challenge in court," explained chairman, John Stewart. "Local residents have been left devastated with many asking me what we do now."
Members of HACAN staged a march through central London on Saturday last week (Nov 24) to keep the pressure on the government.
However, in response to Transport Secretary Stephen Byers' decision to limit the number of flights to 480,000 a year, Mr Stewart said that they will now wait and see if the limit is enforceable. "If it can be enforced, it would effectively prevent further expansion at Heathrow," he said.
