An open day was held at Wandle Primary School in Wandsworth recently to celebrate the school's dramatic turnaround in academic fortunes.
Last year, it was named as one of the worst schools in the country after SAT test scores were published.
But the arrival of new headmaster Paul Larkey breathed new life into the Garratt Lane school and this year the SAT scores were among the best in the borough.
The open day was attended by the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Ron Smith and Wandsworth schools inspectors.
Visitors were shown the recent improvements which have been carried out inside the school and given classroom tours.
Mr Larkey is also running the Luton Marathon to raise money to pay for further improvements to the school and would appreciate any sponsorship.
