Police are warning tablets stolen from a disabled woman's home in Creston Way, Worcester Park, are potentially fatal.
It is thought the burglar came in through a window and stole morphine from the bedroom cabinet, while the woman, who is wheelchair-bound, was making a cup of tea.
After hearing the intruder on Tuesday night, she locked herself in the bathroom and called police.
Police say the 56, 10mg morphine-based tablets called Oxycodone can be extremely dangerous.
Call police on 020 8649 0451 with information.
