Encouraged by the success of their recent Gala Centenary Concert, the Crystal Palace Band is to join forces with another well-loved South London institution, the Horniman Museum and Garden in Forest Hill, to participate in an extra special carol concert.
The annual event, to be held on Sunday, December 9, will be unique this year as both parties are currently celebrating their centenary anniversaries.
Crystal Palace Band held their first rehearsal on January 31, 1901 in Upper Norwood and they chose St Christopher's Hospice as their charity for their Centenary Year, with over £1,700 being raised by the band. The Horniman Museum and Gardens has a varied and interesting collection from all over the world and is one of London's most original museums.
Band chairman Roger Clements said: "It's incredibly unusual to have two well-known local attractions celebrating such a special birthday and we're really pleased to be able to commemorate this unique occasion by holding a carol concert in the Gardens."
