Simon Callow, newly-appointed theatrical advisor to Croydon's London Mozart Players, will feature in the first of three concerts to be held at St John's Smith Square in central London.
In the first concert on October 17, the actor, writer and director will not only narrate Goethe's play Egmont whilst the orchestra performs Beethoven's incidental music for the play, he will also play the German hero Egmont.
This tragic story focuses on Egmont's position amidst the counter-reformation in the Netherlands.
As patron of the orchestra, the Earl and Countess of Wessex will attend the performance.

On November 6, Medea by Mozart's contemporary Georg Benda has been adapted by Callow for the actress playing Medea.
On December 17, the orchestra will perform Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale.
Back at Fairfield, the orchestra will perform works by Mozart and The Sinfonietta by Sir Malcolm Arnold on October 20. For information about Fairfield performances call 020 8688 9291.
