Spanish guitarist Juan Martin's performance at the Fairfield on Tuesday, October 9 follows hot on the heels of famous Sevilian dance troup Jaleo.
The man labelled Doctor Flamenco brings together elements of this Spanish dance from Andalusian music and the electrifying dance of today back to its gypsy, middle Eastern and Sephardic origins.
His shows are a mixture of traditional roots, percussion with Indian Tablas plus North African darabuka, Arabic lute, clarinet and soprano saxophone.
His album Arte Flamenco Puro has a passionate set of flamenco pieces. Recorded live, each track uses no more than two takes to keep the inspiration and intensity up, the way Martin likes it.
Making recordings of flamenco can be difficult, so capturing the excitement of live performance has been a wish of Martin's.
The result is very exciting with fingersnaps, handclapping and footwork all captured with extreme clarity.
The raw intensity of gypsy Antonio Aparecida's singing takes you back to his native Cadiz.
Juan Martin's skill lies in his ability to create unexpected textures and colours within the flamenco setting.
He has a few wild guitar flurries up his sleeve but most of his playing is pure passion on a truly mesmeric scale.
Martin's music making is exceptional both in the quieter moments like the instrumental A Mi Madre and when he wants the audience to know he's making a noise.
The guitar-plucking begins at 8pm and ticket prices range from £10-15.
