If you are curious about bhangra electronica, juju soul and Afro-Asian pop you won't want to miss top percussionist Trilok Gurtu when he plays at the Clocktower on Thursday, November 8 starting from 8.30pm.
Blurring national and musical boundaries Gurtu is used to filling the world's concert halls with singing, guitar and bass whilst professing to "make bridges not barriers."
Born into a prominent musical Bombay family, his mother Shabha is a famous vocalist and his grandfather a concert sitar player.
As a teenager he became hooked on sounds of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and the Supremes and gained a reputation experimenting in the growing Indian pop and jazz scenes.
He left India in 1976 heading for New York and then Europe, where he forged links with prominent European based musicians.
Tickets cost £8 and £10.
