Herne Hill's Micky Boyle secured his fourth veterans title of the year when he triumphed over the mud and hills of north London's Parliament Hill Fields to win the South of England veterans title, writes Tom Pollak.
Boyle, who was disappointed at finishing seventh in the Home Countries veterans international at Falkirk, was determined to make amends over the testing two lap circuit.
He started steadily but controlled the race from the start, racing home a comfortable winner in 32 minutes 16 seconds 38 clear of Mark Hargreaves from Bournemouth.
With Tony Harran 13th in 34:34, Rob Jacobs 29th in 35:50, Herne Hill were fifth in the team event, with Hercules Wimbledon 11th.
Hercules Wimbledon's veterans over 50 team took silver with Vince Hanock taking the individual bronze in the over 55 category.
Other members of the silver medal-winning team were Marco Ciglia 26th, Paul Roche 32nd and Dennis Williams 36th.
Thames Hare and Hounds' Hugh Arnold won the over 55 section in 36:38 but his club just missed out on medals as they finished in fourth place. in the over 50 section.
Thames' best effort came in the over 60 category where they took the team honours with Keith Spacie winning the over 65 section by almost three minutes in 40:42.
