More than £850 was raised for Elstree's St Nicholas Church recently when musicians from the Purcell School in Bushey gave a concert.
The evening was organised by the Friends of St Nicholas, a fundraising group set up to help maintain the church's buildings. Dr Ann Goddard, a member of the group, said the evening had been a great success.
"It was magnificent. We had an audience of around 70 people, and the 12 musicians from the school were extremely gifted," she said.
The money will help to pay for a variety of projects at the church, such as maintaining the church hall and financing a new church notice board.
The next event to be held will be a church bazaar at Borehamwood Village Hall, on Saturday, November 24, when there will be cakes, videos and CDs for sale, along with a raffle.
