COUNCILLORS in Greenwich are to back plans for a wide-ranging advice and guidance service for young people.
The Government-backed Connexions service will provide a network of personal advisors, based in school, colleges, sixth form centres and specialist agencies.
London East Connexions Partnership Board is currently preparing operational plans to bring the service into Greenwich and eight neighbouring boroughs.
Greenwich Council deputy leader Councillor Vicky Morse, who will be on the board, said: "The initiative offers a chance to reach out to young people who have slipped through the net and it is vital we work together to raise the aspirations of all young people."
The service aims to help teenagers, and disabled/special needs people aged up to 25, and is expected to be running by April 2002.
