The Harlem Gospel Choir, performing at Fairfield on Tuesday, October 23, have decided to re-name their tour the "We Shall Overcome" tour as a tribute to those who died or lost loved ones in the American terrorist attacks.
Billed as the Big Apple's greatest choir, they will be donating the money they take on merchandise to the New York disaster fund.
They have also incorporated the hymn "We Shall Overcome" in their varied repertoire.
The choir was founded by Allen Bailey in 1988 at the Cotton Club in Harlem.
The gospel choir has a core of 14 singers, selected from many of Harlem's black churches.
The choir is first and foremost a ministry which works with children's charities around the world whenever possible incorporating faith into its on-stage performances.
Over the past 11 years, the choir has performed for the Pope in Central Park, in U2's music video I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and for Nelson Mandela at the Yankee Stadium.
The Harlem Gospel Choir continues to tour worldwide to colleges, festivals and corporate events around the globe.
The group likes to get everyone in the room on their feet for a singing, dancing and feet-stomping night of gospel.
The hand-clapping begins at 8pm and tickets cost £10-12. To book tickets call 020 8688 9291.
