Wimbledon and Merton Swimming Club held their annual awards night at Wimbledon leisure Centre, Latimer Road
on Wednesday 21st November.
Mayor Stuart Pickover accompanied by his wife, presented the trophies to
proud club members who had excelled in their individual races.
The mayor has ties with the club as both his sons were
Wimbledon and Merton Swimming Club members, learning to swim at an early
age and progressing to lifesaving and teaching qualifications.
In a brief speech the mayor praised the club for it's excellence in encouraging all young people to swim and the benefits it would bring to them.
He also thanked Joyce Andrews who has led the club for many years Wimbledon and Merton Swimming Club meets every Wednesday night at Wimbledon leisure Centre.
There are currently over 100 members ages five to
20. New members are always welcome.
