BEACON BID: Greenwich Council has been shortlisted for two of the Government's Beacon status awards. If successful in the Neighbourhood Renewal and Fostering Business Growth categories, the authority will be asked to promote good practice in other boroughs. The winners of the awards will be announced in April next year.
BETTER DLR: Improved weekend services have been launched on the Docklands Light Railway. Bringing the service in line with Underground start times, trains will be rolling out at 5.30am on Saturday and 7am on Sunday. A new direct service between Bank, Canary Wharf and Prince Regent is now in operation.
COLLEGE CAROLS: Goldsmiths College will be holding its annual Christmas carol concert on December 12. The concert, including singing from the Goldsmiths Chamber will be followed by a mulled wine and mince pie buffet. The free event is from 4.30pm to 5.30pm in the Great Hall of the college, in New Cross.
DOG CHECK: Lewisham Council will be holding a dog day morning on Friday. Environmental officers will be in Eckington Gardens, the Casella Road entrance, New Cross, between 10.30am and noon. They will be handing out leaflets stressing the dangers of dog fouling and its environmental effects.
