Brighton Road 1 SG Morden 0
An injury-time howler from SG Morden keeper Mike Trewin gifted Brighton Road Albion all three points in a hard-fought game on Sunday.
The match seemed destined for a stalemate until substitute striker Ian Hopkins unleashed a fierce left-footed drive at the death that Trewin allowed to slip through his grasp.
It was no more than Sutton Comet-sponsored Albion deserved after laying siege to the SG Morden goal for much of the second half with striker Matthew Vassay and Hopkins both missing golden opportunities to break the deadlock.
French-born hitman Vassay will still be having nightmares after he failed to find the net from just three yards out following a scintillating run and cross from winger Ashley Pate.
The win keeps Albion in fourth place and within reach of top spot.
