IT might be several months until the new cricket season, but if you fancy being an umpire, then now's the chance to enrol for a training course aimed at helping you master the finer points of the game.
The Metropolitan Kent Association of Cricket Umpires & Scorers is offering to prepare you for an end-of-course examination which, if successful, puts you on the first stage to umpiring at the highest level.
The course is to be held at Sidcup Cricket Club, in Sydney Road, for nine consecutive Thursday evenings starting January 17, and costs £20 including a copy of the laws of the game.
If the Sidcup venue and day is not convenient, another course is being held at the Hollybush Centre in Seven-oaks, commencing on Tuesday, January 15. At both venues, the start time is 7.30pm.
