FUNDING has been secured to keep CCTV cameras in Harlow town centre until next September.
Local businesses and landlords have contributed money to enable the cameras to continue operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Since they were installed four years ago, the cameras have considerably reduced crime.
CCTV management committee chairman John Isherwood said: "We're delighted at the success of the system in reducing crime and the fear of crime.
"We're looking to extend the system in future in line with other changes happening in the town centre, for example the town centre south regeneration.
"We're working with the Safer Harlow Partnership to achieve our objectives and welcome contributions from all shops, large and small, and owners within the town centre to continue to improve this service."
