I am writing in particular about the half term dates in 2002. Although I live in the borough of Bromley my son attends a Croydon school and my daughter a Bromley school, this partly due to the fact that Anerley borders Croydon.
Next year Bromley and Croydon have arranged different weeks for the half term holidays of the Spring and Summer terms.
The LB Bromley - 18th to 22nd February and 3rd to 7th June 2002
The LB Croydon 11th-15th February and 27th to 31st May
Being a working single parent this means I now have to cover 15 weeks holidays instead of 13, it is extremely difficult to get cover for school holidays at the best of times (I do not know the half term dates for October 2002). I understand that boroughs are meant to liaise with neighbouring boroughs and I would have thought that in London this was even more necessary. If other people feel the same way then I think they should let their local authorities know so that they ensure this does not happen again.
