Councillor Hyland has announced (November 29) that Bromley is to receive a grant of £160,000 from the Euro-pean Social Fund for a scheme to support people with mental heath needs in Bromley. But he has not mentioned that for every £1 the European Union gives back to grants in Britain, it takes approximately £2 from us in taxa-tion. Currently we pay £11 billion a year to the EU, and it the EU which decides, not the British people, how the half that it deigns to give back to us is to be spent. An independent Britain, out of the EU, would have additional resources not only for much needed improvements to services for people with mental health needs, but for the rest of our health service, for education and transport, without any additional taxation being required.
