PRINCE Charles's architecture ideas will influence the building work at Lewisham Hospital.
The Prince's Foundation said the Prince of Wales has agreed to take on the role of design champion for the NHS.
University Hospital, in Lewisham, is planning phase three of its seven-stage redevelopment programme.
This scheme has been chosen as one of five pilot sites in the country to work with the Prince's Foundation.
Phase three project director at Lewisham Hospital Colin Gentile said: "University Hospital Lewisham is part of a diverse and creative community and we recognise the importance of the hospital environment in contributing to the wellbeing of our patients, visitors and staff.
"We now have an outstanding opportunity, working with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and the Prince's Foundation, to develop a modern health care facility which not only enables the best medical care but also reflects our local values."
