YOUNG nature lovers gathered on Monday this week to discuss various environmental issues at Spelthorne Borough Council's offices in Knowle Green, Staines.
The event, which was sponsored by the council and BP, involved 50 youngsters from six secondary schools, two independent schools and Spelthorne College.
Among the guest speakers was environmentalist Phil Williams and pupils from Bishop Wand School, Sunbury, who gave a presentation about their summer working in the rainforests of Costa Rica. Brain Harris, assistant chief executive at Spelthorne Council, said: "It was a great opportunity for young people to hear a wide range of experts on the environment, which they can use to plan activities and initiatives at their schools."
