A SWIMATHON organised by Dartford Lions Club, based in Spital Street, has raised more than £4,000.
Up to 200 swimmers took part in the event at Fairfield Pool, Lowfield Street, Dartford, raising money for the Lions Hospice. The hospice, in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, offers respite care for terminally-ill people.
Les Philps from Dartford Lions Club said: "It was a great day. Plenty of money was raised. We hope to reach £5,000 by the time all the money is collected."
Taking part in the swimathon were 16 teams from Dartford Grammar School for Boys, West Hill, Dartford, 14 from Wilmington Grammar School for Girls, Wilmington Grange, Parson's Lane, Dartford, three teams from GlaxoSmithKline, in Temple Hill, Dartford, and two teams from the Fleet estate, in Dartford.
