Further to your article in this week's edition (November 14), I write to support your campaign to save the Bromley Youth Music Trust.

Our son, Andrew, has enjoyed eight years of working his way up through the various bands at the BYMT. For the past three years he was a very proud members of the pinnacle band - Bromley Youth Concert Band playing clarinet. His education, poise and development owe a lot to the disci-pline, hard work and enjoyment of his time spent with the Concert Band. He was lucky enough to tour with them for three years, travelling to a number of European countries. He has performed at prestigious London venues and churches. No where else could our son have experienced such opportunities.

It beggars belief that the education authority can slash their grant when so much good comes out of the Music Centre. These are kids who don't hang around aimlessly on the streets looking for trouble. Through the hard work, patience and dedication of this wonderful team at the Music Cen-tre thousands of youngsters have been nurtured and rewarded through the disciplines and enjoyment of music.

I strongly support your campaign to save the BYMT. It would be extremely short-sighted and very sad not to have this wonderful facility.
