Mr Musical, Dave Willets, and the sultry Grace Kennedy, combined their talents on Wednesday evening at Fairfield, to present a cracking show with wall-to-wall, non-stop hits from the shows and movies.
A disappointingly small audience were entertained by these two singing stars and a team of six singers and dancers, who mysteriously became five a short way through the show.
The accent was heavily on song,
although the team gave some excellent dance routines, especially the tributes to Bob Fosse.
Grace, with many stunning dress changes, lent her lush, husky voice to some magical numbers including some great Judy Garland classics.
Dave Willetts' voice was faultless and rich, providing emotion and humour when called on.
What a team Grace and Dave make, and what an opportunity for a series on television to follow on from this tour. I would have loved to hear Dave sing something from Les Miserables or Phantom, but that treat was denied me. However, Dave Willetts fans can look forward to seeing Mr Musical again at Fairfield when Seven Brides for Seven Brothers comes to the venue in March next year.
We had teasing taster for this with his rendition of Bless Your Beautiful Hide included in the medley on Wednesday. Roll on spring 2001!
